December Fun

K2 harvested beets last week.  Today, we tasted beet juice made by Ms. Maria. She added the beet roots, beet leaves, ginger, lime juice and apple juice.  Each child tried it.  Can you tell by their faces who liked it?

Ms. Maria also made a stir-fry with the beet leaves, garlic and sesame oil.  It was tasty.

Today we heard a story about St. Nicholas.  We've been learning about Christmas in Europe so we wanted to see what would happen if we left our shoes outside.  After our lesson on St. Nicholas, look what was in our shoes...Hershey Kisses!

Tomorrow we will have a little Christmas party with our 4th grade Reading Buddies.

Oh what fun it is to be at St. Peter's!

November and December

Big thanks to all of our helpers for The  St. Peter's Turkey Train.  Each child's hands touched every can, box and turkey and we hope that we were able to help many people!

K2 also gathered with K1 and first grade at the annual Potlatch.  We sang songs, gave our handmade necklaces to our friends and ate a yummy snack.  The children also signed a Peace Treaty and agreed to always be friends.  It was a special day.

Looking ahead to December, on Friday, Dec 4, we will have an extra special Spirit Day called, "Holiday Tree Trimming".  Kids can wear a Santa hat or reindeer ears as we decorate two Christmas trees in the Great Room.  Join us!
On Wednesday, Dec 9, we will dismiss at 11:30.
On Wednesday, Dec 16, we will have a special Chapel.
We will have our Kindergarten Christmas party on Thursday, Dec 17 at 1:30 in the lunchroom.  More info to come.

The Chattanooga Zoo

Kindergarten had so much fun on our field trip to the zoo!
Riding on the St. Peter's bus was just the beginning.

The weather was perfect and we learned so much.

The kids loved seeing animals from North America and South America.

ABC is easy as 123

Thanks for all the hard work for our ABC Fashion Show. The kids did a great job creating their hats and were excellent models during the Fashion Show.

K2 is having bushels of fun!

K2 had a great time at Crabtree Farms.  We put our hands in dirt, mulch and compost.

We fed a goat and a sheep.

We identified herbs and tasted fresh veggies.

It was a great culmination of our study of plants and farms.

In Social Studies, Kindergarten began learning about South America.  We read the book "The Umbrella" by Jan Brett.  We also tasted banana chips and dried mango.  Look at those happy faces!

A September to Remember

K2 had a wonderful week.  The children learned about the importance of pointing to the words as they read and practiced doing that.

The kindergarteners continued our study of plants. They learned about deciduous and evergreen trees.  We looked for these trees at school.

We also planted carrot seeds in the garden.

For Fun Friday, the children used water colors and crayons to illustrate posters of the life cycle and needs of a plant. Stop by to check them out!

Have a wonderful week!

Thursday, September 10

Today was a great day in K2.  The kids worked in the garden this morning.  We helped Ms. Maria with the sunflowers.

We also worked hard in today's Literacy Workstations. Ask your child which workstation is his/her favorite!

Check back later!
